Our use of our financial resources does have eternal results - or not. We put to use or service our material wealth for the kingdom and not for personal selfish ambition or gain. Our possessions are to be used for the kingdom, as is our money. All riches belong to God and come to us from God. Although we have the tithe and God asks only for that 10%, He does expect us to live for Him. That means that all we have otherwise would be used for Him and for His glory as well.
You may ask "how?" Let me give you one personal example I remember well from some years ago. I truly wanted to buy a brand new car off the lot; not a used car or not even to have the Lord give me a car! I might add that He had given and blessed me with several cars prior to this. But this time, my husband took me to buy a brand new car and I picked out everything on it! Doing this truly was a blessing from the Lord and I remember the day well. I remember the car! It was a beautiful teal green/blue Chevy Camaro with the new body style of 1995 and it could move. Now I had entered into an agreement with the Lord prior to this purchase. As I prayed I told the Lord I would use my new car for Him and I would take people to church who didn't have a ride... one problem came up in my mind after I bought the car and thought about my promise to God... this is a Camaro, a sports car with basically only two seats because in the backseat you sat with your knees in your lap! That didn't matter to God, He sent me someone to take to church and I did. My husband drove, our friend sat in front in the other bucket seat, and I sat in the back! But I have to tell ya it was worth it! We had that car ten years and then gave it away to someone in need! Praise the Name of Jesus!
Be a good steward of all that you have. Your possessions, your money, your time, your talents... whatever it is you have remember that it came from the Lord to you so you are to use it by giving it back to Him - that He be glorified!
Do you have a nice home? Use the gift of hospitality and invite people over for dinner or Bible studies. Do you have an extra bedroom that someone can use? Is your closet is too full and holding a variety of sizes? Give them away to someone in need. What's your hobby or talent? Think about how you can bless others with what you do. Ask the Lord. When you do, he'll show you. When you do, you'll be the one blessed in it! You'll be the one with eternal rewards.
