"Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land... the LORD is with us." - Numbers 14:9
That's what Caleb and Joshua said when all the people were choosing the opposite of what God wanted for them. Moses, their commander in chief, pleaded with God for them that He not kill these people and it was "according to his (your) word" that the Lord let them live (see verse 29). However, they did not live out God's best. Instead they lived in the wilderness and never entered the Promised Land. They died in the wilderness just as the Lord said, "your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness." Even their sons suffered from their iniquity (verse 31- 33).
To obey is better than sacrifice and with obedience comes great reward (I Samuel 15:22, Luke 5:4-6). Seek the Lord and His ways and be blessed!
