"If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land which flows with milk and honey." - Numbers 14:8
So many people ask, "Why were the Israelites 40 years in the wilderness?" The answer is in the Bible. Look at Numbers 14:34, "According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, for each day you shall bear your guilt (iniquity, sin, disobedience) one year, namely forty years, and you shall know My rejection." In verse 22 (c) it says... you, "have not heeded My voice."
Who are Caleb and Joshua? Two who went against the majority who were wrong! Yes, they took their stand on the side of the Lord against all the others and were able to receive from God all that was promised. The exceedingly good land!
What did it take? Simple obedience to the Lord. By simple obedience you might think out loud, "it's not simple." No, obedience is not always easy, but it is simple. The simple part is simply making up one's mind to trust and obey the Lord. Caleb and Joshua did and they received more than they ever dreamed.
Peter did. (Luke 5:4-7) He obeyed Jesus even though he thought there were no fish to catch. He said to Jesus, "nevertheless at Your word" and he went out in the deep and caught the catch of his life!
Obey God. He knows what He's doing. Do you?
